The Ronald E. McNair Program
The McNair Program prepares selected FAMU sophomores, juniors, and seniors for graduate
study at the doctoral level. During the academic year, McNair Scholars are assisted
with graduate school admissions, GRE preparation and financial aid. Fifteen fellowships
are awarded to Scholars who participate in a ten-week summer pre-doctoral workshop, which
consists of a combination of non-credit course work in research and writing methods, research
practicum, a research project, guided mentoring, computer applications, statistics, presentation
skills, and academic and career counseling. Each summer Fellow is awarded a $2,800
stipend for a ten-week period.
